every year maria has come to her grave on mother’s day, learning nearly two decades ago that her son would leave things for her on that special day. and this year is no different, though when she comes each year, he’s usually gone. there is a specific time that he leaves by, and seeing her son, even if he doesn’t see her, is enough to freeze maria in her footsteps. she’s wrapped in an oversized jacket, for the weather is still a bit cold, but she’ll make no other move. she wants not to alert tony to her presence, for she knows that if shield were to find out they’d seen one another, they wouldn’t take it lightly. but being so close to him… close enough to simply call out his name, maria is tempted to do just that.
