comiitatus:

a story that i’ve only told very few people ; this account existed wholly before it was comiitatus. way back in April of 2014, in the wake of Captain America : The Winter Soldier, and on the heels of portraying a 616 bucky barnes on a completely different site, i was asked to bring this muse to tumblr. it was, undoubtedly, a poor decision for a number of reasons, and was an ultimately strangely discouraging experience to which i only gave a very limited amount of my time to before moving on to a different and smaller, and by default, more inclusive fandom. it wasn’t until that August, through heavy encouragement, that i bothered to come back and even touch base with this blog again ; i gutted the thing. i cleared out so much. headcanons, certain interactions, biography, everything. fresh face, fresh url, the nines. a complete and total start over, and a complete rehashing of a character i had thought i had some grand grasp on.

& it’s so overwhelming, as silly as it might seem, to log on and see that there are over one thousand people – people! – that are interested in the character i portray, in the things i write. not only is this blog going on two years old, it’s accumulated more interest than any other blog i’ve had, nearly combined. james buchanan barnes is important to me, his story, the story i give him, unfolding and growing and picking out pieces, and i am so, so grateful that there are people that want to be involved, want to interact, want to be a part of his narrative.

i just want to thank you guys, really, honestly. it means a lot that any of you are here in any capacity. &, by nature, this is of course a very abbreviated ( and only vaguely alphabetized ) list ; only a small fraction of the number of blogs i follow and find inspiration from. new or old, whether we’ve interacted or not, people who’s narrative voice encourage me, who’s detail and dedication to character are influential, and are otherwise kind behind the scenes. i’ve included my blog roll, because i feel like everyone should get a bit of credit, and so you can really sort of see the kind of people i’ve got in my corner.

and again, thank you, for allowing the blog that almost wasn’t to flourish in the capacity that it has. ❤
