peggy kept her arms tightly around the other woman’s frame.  keeping her close, scared in-case the woman would slip away once again.  lose her all over again and to feel that gut wrenching pain she felt so many years ago.  but she continued to smile; even when the italian was wiping away her tears and dragging her into the kitchen,   peggy found herself laughing for the first time in a long time and came to a quick stop in the middle of the kitchen.  dinner sounded lovely, spending time with the once believed deceased woman sounded even better.   to have someone back in her life that was part of a large portion of it.  she did marry her best friend after all and peggy saw her as family ever since.        ❝ oh no. no. i have no where else to be, maria… really. ❞        rubbing her hands nervously together, she tugged at her sleeves before raising her hand to harshly rub at her eyes to rid of the tears that desperately wanted to escape.        ❝ i would love to have some dinner with you maria, but you must allow me to help you prepare it… i’d hate to leave you to do it all on your own. ❞

it’s truly a relief when peggy agrees to stay for dinner, and maria won’t even bother to object to the woman’s insistence of helping with dinner. many decades ago, she’d learned to simply let peggy do as she pleased, and maria doesn’t intend to forget that now. not something so important of her best friend.   ❛ of course… will you set the table, please? and when you are done with that, you may help me with food. the plates are up there. ❜   she points to a cabinet just a few feet away from peggy.   ❛ and the glasses are there. silverware is in drawer under it. ❜   oh, how long it’s been that maria has had company for dinner, and how much longer it’s been since she’s seen a friendly and familiar face.
